Frequently asked questions

SCIOS (Systeemcertificatie Inspectie en Onderhoud van Systemen) is a Dutch certification scheme that sets standards for the inspection and maintenance of technical systems, including electrical and heating systems. It's important to note that the guidelines for SCIOS certification may differ by country.

A Scope inspection is an electrotechnical assessment certified by SCIOS. There are various types of inspections, such as Scope 8, 10, and 12, which focus on tasks like verifying the safety of electrical installations (Scope 8) or identifying fire risks (Scope 10). It is important to note that requirements for these inspections may vary depending on the country.

In the Netherlands, there are three certification bodies accredited for issuing certificates. Accreditation ensures that a product or service meets predefined requirements. For applying for a Scope certification, you can contact Bureau Veritas, DEKRA, or Kiwa.

IB22 was developed for use in inspections of electrical equipment, including Scope 8, Scope 10, Scope 12, NEN 1010, and NEN 3140. It employs a color-coding system with four colors—red, orange, yellow, and blue—to indicate the current urgency level of the equipment. Red denotes a very serious finding with a constant risk of injury and/or fire, while blue signifies minimal risk.

During a SCIOS Scope inspection, the inspector identifies defects. With the Incontrol E-inspection app, you can create your own standard defects list. This allows you to select components for each inspection when deviations are observed. The defects list includes items such as installation materials, fixtures, grounding, earth leakage, measurements, and more.

Absolutely! When using Incontrol E-inspection, you can easily add one or more photos per component using your smartphone or tablet. You can then mark the photo to indicate where the issue is located. The edited photos are automatically included in your report without any additional steps.

Regulations are adjusted several times a year. SCIOS typically implements a transition period of 6 months. Incontrol ensures that templates are updated quarterly so that you report according to the most current standards.

When you are working towards obtaining a SCIOS certificate and meet the established requirements, including professional qualifications for the executing personnel, you will be granted the status of an aspirant certificate holder.

Yes, as an aspirant certificate holder, you undergo the official certification process through an accredited certification body. Companies that meet all the required conditions are also authorized to perform SCIOS-certified inspections and maintenance activities.

In the SCIOS portal, you first enter a location and then add the corresponding identification codes. You have the option to link multiple inspections to this location. For each inspection, specify the type of electrical system, such as TT or TN, and evaluate the status of current, neutral, earth, and phase. You can then deregister the inspection, either with or without identified defects. After deregistration, an inspection statement is automatically generated, indicating whether any defects were found.
