Scope 8 inspections are safety assessments of fixed electrical installations. SCIOS Scope 8 inspections adhere to the NEN 3140 standard, but include additional quality and knowledge requirements specific to Scope 8.
Scope 8 certifications ensure a high-quality standard through these additional requirements.
The SCIOS Scope 8 inspection procedure consists of a documented inspection plan, which serves as a guideline for conducting safety inspections. While each inspection is unique, the plan provides standardized frameworks that objectively determine the execution and content of the inspection.
With our ready-to-use Scope 8 inspection plan, both you and your client will know precisely what to expect from the inspection in advance. Once you have completed the inspection plan, you can easily import the data into the inspection report. This saves time by requiring data entry only once, contributing to a more efficient and faster workflow.
After the inspection plan has been approved by your client, you begin the Scope 8 inspection. You will check the insulation resistance of each component, ensure safe separation of current paths, and measure circuit impedance. All identified deviations and defects are classified according to the IB22 classification of Stichting SCIOS.
With Incontrol E-Inspections, you can easily import data from your Scope 8 inspection plan, allowing for an immediate start on inspections. Your work becomes smarter, faster, and more accurate with features such as automatic IB22 classification, voltage loss calculation tools, defect lists, and auxiliary tables, enabling you to quickly compile professional reports.
During your Scope 8 inspection, you compile a report of your findings, highlighting issues that need to be addressed by an installer. A re-inspection then assesses and verifies whether these issues have been adequately resolved.
Incontrol E-Inspections streamlines the re-inspection process by automatically integrating defects and measurements from the initial inspection into the correction report. The tool provides a clear overview by comparing original and new measurements. Our ready-to-use re-inspection templates help avoid duplicate efforts, ensuring efficiency.
Once you’ve completed the inspection, you can digitally sign the report immediately. With a single click, you can email the professional inspection report in your own branding, including your company logo, to both your client and yourself.

SCIOS (Systeemcertificatie Inspectie en Onderhoud van Systemen) is a Dutch certification scheme that sets standards for the inspection and maintenance of technical systems, including electrical and heating systems. It's important to note that the guidelines for SCIOS certification may differ by country.
A Scope inspection is an electrotechnical assessment certified by SCIOS. There are various types of inspections, such as Scope 8, 10, and 12, which focus on tasks like verifying the safety of electrical installations (Scope 8) or identifying fire risks (Scope 10). It is important to note that requirements for these inspections may vary depending on the country.
A SCIOS Scope 8 inspection is a certified method for assessing the safety of fixed electrical installations. By conducting a Scope 8 inspection, your client meets the requirements of the Dutch Working Conditions Act (Arbowet) and ensures the creation of a safe environment.
During a SCIOS Scope 8 inspection, the inspector identifies defects. A standard defect list allows the inspector to select items when deviations are observed. The defect list includes components such as installation materials, fixtures, grounding, residual current devices, measurements, and more.
A SCIOS Scope 8 inspection is based on the Dutch standard NEN 3140, which forms the foundation for the operation of electrical installations. The additional quality and knowledge requirements specific to Scope 8 provide further assurance that the work has been performed to a high standard of quality.
The purpose of Technical Document 12 (TD12) is to ensure that inspection companies under SCIOS Scope 8 certification conduct standardized safety inspections. TD12 outlines the requirements for inspection methods and reporting.
After obtaining your diploma, you are not yet SCIOS certified. Your company must demonstrate to the certification body that it operates with the SCIOS quality system, and the employee must show to the certification body that they can work with this quality system and are professionally competent. Certification will only be granted to the company once both requirements are met.
As an aspirant, you go through the certification process with a certification body. Companies that meet certain conditions are also authorized to perform SCIOS Scope 8 inspections during this process.
Yes, as an aspirant, you are permitted to conduct Scope 8 inspections.
